Richmond, VA
Don’t know where you’d like to have a photoshoot? No worries! I’ve photographed plenty of locations in Richmond and surrounding areas and am very familiar with the most photogenic parts. These galleries contain the most requested locations, however, these are not the only locations that I have or will photograph. Please contact me if you’re interested in other locations or would like more unique recommendations!
Maymont Park
Maymont Park is a large historic estate and park with a variety of elegant and casual backdrops for photography. With multiple gardens showcasing stonework, gazebos, ponds, bridges and, (of course) beautiful plants, the variety you get from choosing Maymont as a photoshoot location will not disappoint.
Great Shiplock Park + Chapel Island
This unique location located off of the Virginia Capitol trail has views of the James River and downtown Richmond, as well as features rustic structures from the shiplock and canal lock. A short footbridge across the canal leads to Chapel Island, revealing private beaches on the river and shaded walking trails.
Byrd Park
Byrd Park offers lakefront views, shaded walkways, beautiful stone stairs, and more. This area surrounds Shield’s Lake directly across from Maymont Park.
Capitol Square Park
As the name implies, this park is located at Capitol Square Hill just outside the Capitol building. However, this location doesn’t just have historic monuments and buildings. It also features beautiful gardens, brick walkways, and grand staircases, all overlooking downtown Richmond.
Canal Walk
The Canal Walk stretches across 1.25 miles of Richmond’s canals and the James River. It has waterfront paths, bridges, a mural walk, and inside views of downtown through Shockoe Bottom. Plan a photoshoot and then a visit to one of the many restaurants along the canal!
Midlothian Coal Mines
This historic location in the heart of Midlothian has everything you need for a classic outdoor photoshoot. One side of the park is a circular trail around a pond with bridges, observation decks, and plant life. Cross a short tunnel underneath Woolridge Road to walking trails surrounded by beautiful woodland and 1800s landmarks from the original Midlothian Coal Mining Company.
Libby Hill Park
Libby Hill Park, located at the top of Libby Hill, overlooks Shockoe Bottom and has a beautiful view of the James River AND the city! This park features a small garden, fountains, large oak trees, and a gazebo, all surrounded by the quaint houses of Church Hill.
Virginia Commonwealth University Campus
Calling all VCU students! As a VCUarts grad and Richmond resident, I have thoroughly explored the VCU campus and the closely surrounding areas for the best spots that capture your time at VCU (Including MCV campus!) If you’re graduating or working at VCU, a campus photo shoot is a must!
Rockett’s Landing
Rockett’s Landing is a riverfront dock with stunning views of Downtown Richmond. A popular location on the Virginia Capitol Trail for walking, fishing, and biking, but a unique place for a photoshoot.
