June 2024

A dreamy and romantic engagement session that I had soooo much fun capturing on a sunny June morning. This session took place at Agecroft Hall Gardens, a Tudor style mansion brought to Virginia from England piece by piece from England in the 1920s. The gardens are vast with multiple secluded sections and different backgrounds for photography. The property also overlooks the James River with a series of hiking trails by the water!

Luckily, this property has the option for photographers to rent the outside garden space for private photoshoots! At the low price of $50 for 45 minutes, this space was an absolute STEAL!

The couple I had the pleasure of capturing on this gorgeous morning is one of my wedding clients for this year, so they were super excited to work together for the first time. I know the bride through a friend, and we had the chance opportunity to run into each other at the mall just a week before our session!

We started at 9 AM sharp, and the gardens were a lot bigger than I expected, so we quickly got to work! If you haven't seen this space yet, I HIGHLY recommend checking it out, it's open to the public Tuesday through Sunday.

We started in this sunken garden surrounded by trees and bushes, this was very similar to the design of the Virginia House gardens that are right next door.

Each garden led into another garden or walkway. This one featured a stone pathway that was full of greenery and archways.

The back of the property opened up to a large downhill field and tree line reaching towards the James River below. Keep reading to see some of those shots!

The house also features elegant tudor style architecture all around, which was nice to add some variety to their photos.

We felt like the photo opportunities were endless here! Just around every corner there was something else I HAD to photograph!

Towards the end of our session we focused on the grassy field in the back of the property. This feels straight out of a romance movie to me.

This tree lined path and morning back light was EVERYTHINGGGG.

And of course, I have to make my clients work a little too, so they did some running. ;-)

After their workout, I did let them rest a little (hee hee):

Even though I could spend all day exploring and capturing this amazing landscape, our mini session had come to an end, and it was time to part ways. (sad!)

I was SO happy with how this session turned out. I truly can't believe how much we were able to capture in just 45 minutes! These two are also high school sweethearts which made my job incredibly easy because of how comfortable they were with each other. It was great spending time with them and getting to know them a little better before their wedding day. I hope they enjoy the photos as much as I do, and I cannot wait to capture them on their big day this fall.

Thanks for reading!!
