Hello everyone! In today's blog post, I'm going to share this senior session that took place at my client's private family farm in Manakin Sabot, Virginia. I was so excited to be invited to a private location like this, and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. From a secluded lake to a rustic barn and wide open pastures, this location had it all (including 16 horses!!). Thankfully, she booked my Deluxe Package which includes an hour and a half of shooting time, so we had plenty of time to explore. ;-)
I had never actually been to this area of town before, it's wedged between Goochland and Henrico, and the drive there was spectacular. The properties on the large areas of land were truly breathtaking, and as I drove up the long driveway to this farm, I knew it would be a unique session.
When we met at the beginning of the session, I was almost overwhelmed with the possibilities that this property had to offer! We decided to go in a giant circle around the main house, and hit every little spot along the way, starting with a lovely lake with a small dock and a fountain in the center. There was also a group of geese far in the distance (which I learned the day before from another client, that a group of geese is called a "gaggle", hehe). This session occurred around midday, so I made sure to keep her in the shade to avoid any harsh shadows.

I LOVED this client's outfit, the white cowboy boots were perfect for the theme of the location and served as a great statement piece!
We continued in our circular path towards one of the fields enclosed by some wooden fencing. We saw some horses in the background, but I wanted to wait until we got to the barn to pose with them!

Luckily a lot of the property was well shaded with gorgeous oak trees that we definitely took to our advantage.

After a quick outfit change, it was time to visit the barn (and the horses were so happy to be included)!

The white romper and brown cowboy boots were so cute and playful, they paired perfectly with the aesthetic of the bright red barn.

For our final poses, I wanted to do something fun to represent her celebration of her senior year of high school. We walked into the freshly mowed field and I told her to skip, run, and twirl!

Sooooooo fun!!
To finish up our session, we did a couple back lit shots with this mossy wooden fence.

After 90 minutes, we were fulfilled with the amount and variety of photos we got (even though I could DEFINITELY explore this property forever!)
This gal and her mom were so sweet, it was such an honor and a pleasure to capture such an important milestone for her! And I was so grateful to explore such a beautiful (and private) location; it wasn't like anything I've captured before. They both loved how the photos turned out:
